When I first started working on my YA Contemporary novel, WHERE THE WATER FALLS, I knew immediately when I'd gotten to a certain scene, what my title would be.
However, when my book sold in May 2014 to Disney-Hyperion, I also knew it would undergo many changes to make it bookshelf worthy -- which included the possibility that the title would change.
While I was sad when this conversation first came up back in March - because I really did love my title - I always knew the reason for change would be to make my story the most marketable book it could be...so I can't be disappointed about that!
My story is all about 17-year-old Sloane McIntyre and ultimately, how one summer changed her life.
And it's because of this, the new title will be:
SUMMER OF SLOANE
I'm so excited for my new title and what it means for my book and I'm thankful for the amazing team over at Disney-Hyperion, who all did such a fantastic job finding the perfect one. I also can't tell you how awesome it is to have the word SUMMER in there -- because I've heard all about the good ju-ju that brings!
And even though WTWF will always have a special place in my heart, along with the scene that inspired it, I couldn't be happier with how three words now sum up my book perfectly.
Coming May 3, 2016 from Disney-Hyperion
